Who We Are

We started with nothing. Now we’ve contributed to over 400 projects in 12 different states.

In the fall of 1998, Bountiful Steel was established by four founders at a small shop in a back yard in Southwest Missouri. Initially, we only did steel fabrication— but as the years went by and our team’s skills grew, we took on bigger jobs, moved to a bigger building, and started expanding our services. Soon we were doing our own shipping, detailing, and— since 2016— steel erecting.

But even though our team has grown, and capabilities improved, our fundamental values stayed the same. We will communicate honestly and fairly, providing high-quality products and services to our customers. And at the same time, we’ll continue building a hard-working team that values each other and our customers. We will always say what we can do and then do what we say.

Tommy Zitting

  • Tommy has been with Bountiful since day one. He helped unload the first delivery of steel in 1998 and then continued as an entry-level fabricator, working alongside the founders to get the shop up and running. At Bountiful, he learned the definition of hard work and gained the confidence to take on new challenges, and most importantly, he learned how to follow through on commitments. However, his career did not stop on the shop floor.

After twelve years of working in the fabrication shop, operating machinery, reading plans, welding, etc., Tommy’s role in the company changed to fabrication manager. This title also included the responsibility of safety manager and quality manager. This was where Tommy was exposed to a list of new experiences, such as planning, communication, and training.

Out of necessity, to support the growing business, Tommy took it upon himself to continue his education in the steel industry codes, regulations, and standard practices. Tommy led the company through the process of becoming an AISC-certified fabricator, and later, an AISC-certified erector by creating quality management systems with the help of other key members.

As the company continued to grow, Tommy’s days as Fabrication Manager came to an end and he assumed the position of President and Administrative Director. In this role, he is now involved more with the customers, sales, and some project management duties. Other responsibilities include oversight of HR, Safety, Quality, and the company’s financials. Tommy’s favorite part of this job is working and strategizing closely with an incredibly capable, smart, and hard-working leadership team, who help our customers and our team solve problems and achieve their goals.

The engineers at the office recognized his aptitude and quickly involved him in fieldwork. Michael eagerly absorbed knowledge, teaching himself various processes and calculations while assisting in the field. This eventually led him to become a lead inspector, specializing in geotechnical testing and analysis.

Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, Michael transitioned to roles such as construction manager for the Denver Broncos and later the Chicago Bears. Subsequently, he served as General Superintendent for Kiewitt Construction, overseeing the construction of parking garages and train stations.

His background has made Michael a very well-rounded Quality Control Manager at Bountiful Steel. Since being hired in 2022, he's been able to fine-tune certain field processes, especially those involving steel-to-concrete connections. He ensures that our work is always of the highest quality on every job site.

Doubling our number of employees, she's also assisted in streamlining our payroll and HR processes, and building out our extensive benefits package. Tracy has been pivotal in getting Bountiful's name out there for recruiting and community involvement. We would not be where we are today without her tenacity and dedication.

John Zitting

  • John's journey began in 2011 at Bountiful, where he immersed himself in steel fabrication on the shop floor. Alongside his work, he volunteered at the local fire department and with first responders, responding to field fires and aiding car crash victims. These experiences in his teenage years instilled a sense of responsibility and drive in him, fueling his ambition.

In 2015, he took the leap and established his own construction business, specializing in siding, windows, and various finishing tasks. During this period, he subcontracted work from Jayger, a general contractor, which paved the way for an unexpected opportunity. Impressed by his skills and dedication, Jayger offered John a superintendent position.

However, the call of home beckoned, and in 2018, John made the decision to return to Bountiful, accepting a foreman position in the erecting division. John's hard work ethics and ability to solve problems has played a big role in the erecting division's success. John now has the role of Superintendent which has him managing multiple jobs and crews.

At 23, George started taking on projects with the newly established Erecting division. In the early days, he helped complete several jobs while also still working as a fabricator at the shop. After Two years of part time erecting, he made the switch to full-time, managing his own crew as a foreman. Through the years, he's developed a systematic approach to putting up buildings, pushing himself and his crew to always be better and faster. The results of this are that George's projects are often completed under budget and ahead of schedule due to this unmatched energy and drive to get things done.
